ProMed – HIPAA Audit Log (HAL) was developed to close the electronic exposure gap. HAL is a database application that stores PHI audit data from ALL of your existing systems in ONE location. It is designed to integrate with other systems by using standard healthcare industry data exchange mechanisms, like HL7, XML, ODBC, and COLD.

Every time a patient’s electronic record is view, edited, deleted, printed, or emailed, it is tracked and recorded. The audit trail contains the user name of every person accessing the data, as well as the date and time of the access. It even records the name of the computer the user was logged onto when they accessed the record.

HAL gives you the power to search its database by patient, MR#, account#, user name or computer name. Further, you can establish user activity rules, via a simple interface, to notify you when PHI is accessed in certain situations.
